The DevOps Engineer is a mid- to senior-level DevOps role and a strong individual technical contributor who will join a dynamic cross-functional software development team and be responsible for deploying, operating and optimizing our development, QA, and production environments. You will also enhance the development environment to ensure our engineering teams are as productive and efficient as possible.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scripts and tools for continuous integration, continuous deployment, automation templates and tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration & change management with the goal to achieve zero down-time deploys
  • Maintain and operate multiple cloud environments (AWS & GCP) for ongoing IT and systems operations, including backup and disaster recovery operations
  • Build and deploy microservice containers to environments as requested
  • Ensure our cloud environments adhere to security best practices and compliance
  • Automate configuration management, secrets management and cloud deployments
  • Design, develop and maintain an infrastructure alerting system
  • Design and implement solutions for service logging and retrieval to optimize engineering’s ability to troubleshoot customer issues
  • Monitor infrastructure costs and alert management in advance if forecasts exceed defined budgets
  • Work with all areas of the business including leadership, product, development, operations, support center, and accounting
  • Create and maintain documentation for DevOps process and procedures

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a DevOps role operating an AWS cloud-enabled platform solution deployed at scale
  • Experience with CloudFormation, shell scripting, and Python
  • Hands-on demonstrable experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, Fargate, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, as well as 3rd party solutions such as DataDog, Splunk, NewRelic, Prometheus, Ganglia
  • Experience with domain and subdomain configuration, SSL certificate management
  • Experience with RDS Postgres or similar (NoSQL databases is a plus)
  • Experience with Jenkins or equivalent
  • Proven track record of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously and negotiating workflow while meeting deadlines
  • Start-up experience and proven ability to work independently given high-level direction
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Understanding of security compliance including HIPAA/PCI
  • Excellent design, collaboration and problem-solving skills with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers. Ability to document and articulate architecture designs a must
  • Exposure to Agile development and execution methodologies
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform environment a plus
  • Understanding and experience with health-tech regulatory and compliance concepts like HIPAA a plus
